Pizza Hut Saudi Arabia makes fun of stuttering people at International Stuttering Awareness Day

in news •  7 years ago  (edited)

In a weird tweet by @PizzaHut_Saudi, Pizza Hut appeared to be mocking stuttering people by writing in a stuttered manner in Arabic to promote their Saturday/Sunday Pizza offer at the International Stuttering Awareness Day (ISAD), which is October 22nd. Apparently someone at Pizza Hut marketing team thought this was a smart appealing ad, similar to talking to people in their native language!

Unfortunately for them, the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Trade and Investment spotted the tweet, and did not take lightly, posting their and saying it is against regulations, and the company will be summoned and dealt with.

For those who don't know, the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Trade and Investment are known to be very strict in apply rules and penalties. It is unclear what came of this, but you can be certain the outcome is not something Pizza Hut had in mind.

Seriously. Who in his rightful mind thought this was a good idea? And does anyone reviews and approves tweets before they're posted there?
