Reality Check: Millions Wasted "Rebuilding" Afghanistan

in news •  7 years ago

Seventeen years of wasted taxpayer money and government mismanagement: millions of U.S. dollars spent on projects to rebuild Afghanistan that have not helped the Afghan people. In some cases, these projects actually put Afghans in danger. This is a Reality Check you won't get anywhere else.

I flipping love REALITYCheck! Great Job @benswann! I had to skip backwards to hear that right, 1 TRILLION dollars??!?!? That is absurd! Especially when thirst can be cured for 40 billion total Lifesaver bottle: Link to TED talk Video here: https://www.ted.com/talks/michael_pritchard_invents_a_water_filter

Are we ready to stop letting a gang of thugs control our money?

It’s trilions more with Iraq
It’s insanity!
They would be better off with If we never invaded and America could of been rebuilding our nation with those trillions

Thanks for the good information!

might try, more like, billions !

I have a bridge to sell you. In this case a power company in Afghanistan...
I'm betting that money ended up in the pockets of some private military contractor.
Its a scam, and here both the people of the US and the people of Afghanistan end up with the short end.

Yup
Don’t forget some congressional members pockets got a piece too!

This is the kind of awesome community project that local corruption undermines. Not just Afghanistan has to deal with this but any 2nd or 3rd World Country where foreign investments are made without surveillance or without political implications.

Congratulations @benswann!

Awesome video Ben! It's time to end the wars and bring the troops home!

hopefully it'll gud for afgani's....

My best friend just got back from 6 months as medic in Afghanistan. His usual day was treating soldiers who were using herion hoping to go home, and civilians who were casualties of drone bombs. There is so much being lost in that country, and zero good reason for "UN" troops to be stationed there.

another great video Ben
