On June 3, 1924, in Kierling, Austria, a writer as pessimistic as he was brilliant died, that day the tormented life of Franz Kafka was extinguished. Born on July 3, 1883, in Prague, Austro-Hungarian Empire, he grew up in a wealthy family of Jewish merchants. He grew up in the German cultural environment but within a fervent Zionism, he received his doctorate in law and became interested in mysticism and metaphysics prematurely. Premature tuberculosis cut short a long-awaited trip to Palestinian lands. Lucid and talented, he knew how to walk through the world of dreams but told with amazing realism. With just a short novel that went unnoticed and his book "Meditations" in oblivion, the First World War broke out, far from plunging him into darkness came his most prolific time. In just 6 years he wrote, The Trial, The Metamorphosis, and Letter to His Father, The Castle, In the Penal Colony, Letter to His Father, and A Country Doctor. His introspection and amorous failures transformed him into an anguished and pessimistic man, his stories seem to have no beginning or end point, it is common that his characters never identify the reason for their hardships or the faces of their perpetrators. The characters in their stories usually have no names, only some initials, often "K" and are tormented by indeterminate circumstances, this is a clear self-reference to their tribulations. Within totally realistic stories there are absurd facts that, far from breaking the fluidity of the work, give it a leap and raise the quality of the story. Kafka died on June 3, 1924, from his tortuous tuberculosis.

Sensing that his time was coming, he entrusted his literary advisor Max Brod with the task of burning all his manuscripts in order to put an end to his literary legacy, for the good fortune of world literature.

Unfortunately, part of his manuscripts remained in the hands of his lover Dora Diamant, who kept them secret until the Gestapo confiscated them in 1933, their whereabouts are still unknown.

Today is the 94th anniversary of his death. For many, he is one of the most realistic writers in describing his characters. No doubt reading it is essential for all types of readers.
