carrying 20 passengers crashed near the ancient city of Luxor in Egypt on Friday (5/1/2018) morning local time. The accident resulted in a tourist from South Africa killed and 12 others seriously injured.

According to Assistant Minister of Health of the Republic of Egypt, Sharif Wadie, the accident was caused by strong winds that suddenly appeared when a group of tourists was enjoying the moment of sunrise from inside the hot air balloon.
It also mentioned that the accident had catapulted a spark to land and about some people who began packed the most famous tourist area in Egypt.

The blimps have happened several times in Egypt. In 2013, as many as 19 people were killed when a hot-air balloon caught fire shortly after takeoff. A similar crash occurred in 2016, when 22 Chinese tourists were injured after the blown air balloon failed to land properly.

Since then, the Egyptian government also requires air balloon flight activity to be monitored using a camera. In addition, the Egyptian government also banned air balloons to fly at an altitude of less than 2,000 meters due to potential wind gusts
