Just recently, Piers Morgan blasted the Second Amendment, specifically calling out Wal-Mart for its "Own the School Year Like a Hero" banner above a showroom for guns. Obviously, either something got lost in communication or a Wal-Mart employee made a big mistake. Either way, it should be clear that no company endorses school shootings or other acts of violence.
Yet Piers Morgan and the liberal machinery continue to make a scene out of anything they can find, so long as whatever they are protesting for happens to negatively impact conservative and/or Christian principles. And in this particular case, a simple exercise of fact-checking would immediately determine that Wal-Mart is NOT SELLING GUNS TO SCHOOLCHILDREN, as the ignorant Morgan proclaims.
Here are the FACTS:
- Federal laws mandate that ONLY ADULTS (ie. 18 years and older) can purchase firearms. Some state laws allow youth as young as 14 to own guns, but remember, Piers Morgan's argument is that Wal-Mart is selling guns to schoolchildren. Sorry, this is against United States law.
Please read 18 U.S.C. 922(b)(1) and (b)(2); 27 CFR 478.99(b)
Gun purchases require national background checks, especially for big-time corporate entities like Wal-Mart. Indeed, if you look at Piers Morgan's retweeted picture, you can see that Wal-Mart puts up federal guideline notices. This is not some shady, back alley, fly-by-night operation. Of course, if it were, the liberals would have ZERO problems with it because such transactions are typically conducted among "protected minorities."
Admittedly blurry, you can still make out the fact that most, if not all, of these firearms in question are hunting rifles (ie. featuring manually operated bolt actions). This is NOT the type of gun that you would purchase if your intention is a school shooting. Furthermore, these hunting rifles are aligned with deep-seated cultural and historical roots in several American states.
