US military officials have taken a formal step in investigating the crash of a cargo plane belonging to the Puerto Rico National Air Guard in Georgia.
The military fleet incident killed nine crewmen on board a plane that had been identified a day after the incident.
The US Air Force says it has set up an accident investigation board to determine the cause of the crash.
According to the Puerto Rico National Air Guard statement the personnel killed in the crash were experienced members of the military.
"Victimized personnel are our family and keeping them and their loved ones is our top priority," said Brigadier Isabelo Rivera, aides general of the Puerto Rican National Guard.
We fully support them and are ready to provide all the help or resources of the National Guard during this difficult time.
The cargo plane that crashed in the city of Savannah, Georgia, USA is a 60-year-old type of WC-130 Hercules.
The plane that departed in the training mission fell shortly after takeoff and nearly hit vehicles and people on land.
As a result, almost all parts of the cargo plane were destroyed and leaving only the tail of the plane.
Previously, the same aircraft was recorded to have been included in various missions including giving aid to storm victims in Puerto Rico. The aircraft is part of the 156th Airlift Wings unit.
The relevant authorities have identified victims consisting of a pilot, a navigator, a co-pilot and six crew members.
