Jupiler League Week 2 Saturday Previews

in news •  last year

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

Friday didn't really go as planned and this was the 2nd week in a row where I took a more speculative gamble which backfired so I will be keeping those aside for now. 3 interesting matches and some bets on Saturday...

Genk vs Eupen

Genk so far showed me that they have one of the best teams in the league right now and that they are ready even though somehow they managed to get knocked out of the CL Qualifiers against Servette. A combination of A virus going around 2 weeks ago, Heynen getting injured early last match, along with too easily taking goals were the cause. Last week in the league away against RWDM they easily won with 0-4 even though also there they could have gotten goals against them. Eupen played with a lot of discipline against a disappointing Westerlo and a combination of them scoring at 100% while their goalkeeper gave 2 gift goals and ended that match in 2-2. Overall I still consider Eupen as one of the main relegation candidates. Similar to last season, I'm in on the Genk train and am backing them almost blindly right now which made me take an early bet of 0.8 units on Genk -1.5 @ 1.835. The fatigue, injury of Heynen and also Fadera for sure makes it less strong but they should have enough quality to score a bunch of goals against Nurudeen who really looked extremely shaky last week. If I were to bet right now, I would probably just take 0.4 units with an eye on more in-game. I also took a 0.0045 BTC Crypto bet on Genk -1.5 @ 1.920 over at sportbet.one

Cercle Brugge vs Charleroi

Cercle Brugge has been a hyped up team for a while and rightfully so. They lost last week with 1-0 against Antwerp in what was a boring match and a deserved win. On the betting market, cercle seems to be overrated to me or at best just valued properly which makes it hard to really back them. They also lost Ueda who provided a lot of goals for them last season. Charleroi played a classic Charleroi match which was quite the torture to watch and I do see them once again as an Under team with coach Mazzu back in charge. They did play 75+ minutes with 10 vs 11 and were able to hold of an underwhelming OHL to a 1-1 score. So to me, they are a team that plays on result and nobody really wants to play against them since they tend to lay back and punish teams on the counters. I don't see a wide-open match from both sides as only Cercle is really going to be willing to go forward which at the same time will limit the amount of risk they will take. At the same time, if cercle manage to score early it might become way more of a match. I split bets between 1st and 2nd half taking 0.204 units on Under 2.75 @ 2.00 and 0.177 units on 1H Under 1.25 @ 1.769. Cercle is also a team that has the ability and potential to create a ton of corners which they showed multiple times last season and I took some crypto bets on that. 80$ on Cercle 1H -0.5 corners @ 1.670 over at Rollbit, 0.0109 ETH on Cercle 1H Over 2.5 Corners @ 1.85 over at dexsport.io

OH Leuven vs RWDM

OHL last week disappointed barely getting a 1-1 draw against 10 players of Charleroi and their coach also stated before that he was disappointed by the overall fitness, especially from the new players. I still see them as a team that should do well over the course of the season but it might not yet be their time. RWDM was a big unknown and they lost with 0-4 against Genk in their first match but their play wasn't nearly as bad as the scoreline suggests. They also seemed willing to go forward and created multiple chances. I would not be surprised to see goals in this match on both sides but the betting market pretty much agrees with this as the line is set at Over 3. I have no intentions to back OHL as the big favorite right now but also don't want to take the gamble on RWDM. So for now I will just wait in out and see and have No Pre-Game Bets
