Jupiler League Week 3 Sunday Previews

in news •  4 years ago

These are previews from matches involving Belgian Teams with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries along with my personal betting angles, ...

I had quite some live betting action on Saturday with my first bigger bet of the season which ended up as a winner on what was suite a solid day. I'm certainly picking up some confidence and conditions are slowly getting more normal. There are no more drinking breaks, the weather is fine and players are starting to get used to the stadiums without fans. 3 more interesting matches today to cover...

Standard vs Racing Genk

Standard took a 6 on 6 in their frist 2 matches both winning them by 1 goal while their play was far from impressive. Both matches were played against bottom teams who played the counter style game. Today at home against Genk it's a totally different match. They will miss Bastien who was a key player in previous matches and Vanheusden is still suspended. Genk is also unbeaten in the league having taken 4 out of 6 points. They played a poor 1st half away against Zulte-Waregem and a good 2nd half to take the 1-25 win. At home against OHL who played the counter game they should have lost as they didn't manage to create all too many real chances. So both teams to mee feel a bit overrated based on the actual play they delivered. Previous matches, however, are not really the best reference as in this one there should be a lot more space for both teams unless they opt to play it tactically. Even though Standard +0 at home looks tempting, they won't be able to count on their usual home support and I see the scoring potential of Genk as a bit higher. The home side is still the only real betting option for me though (a bit similar to Antwerp Yesterday) as they also have a solid record against Genk winning 10 of the last 12 meetings. My main eye will be on the Over bet live in case both end up going for it. I took a minimum bet on Racing Genk Corners +0.5 @ 1.97 as Standard lost 3 out of 4 corner matchups at home against other top teams last season while Genk did quite good on that.

Club Brugge vs Beerschot

Club Brugge took a relief 1-4 win away against Eupen last week playing a good match but they pretty much were allowed to score as Eupen continued to go forward. The reality of the last 7+ months though is that they have had somewhat of a scoring problem. This along with the fact that they can still count on an excellent defense made it so that they turned into an under team going 16W-9L-3P on the under vs the Asian Total Line. They now play Beerschot who is known for not giving all too much away in defense. They have taken 6 on 6 and were on top in the standings after 2 weeks with mostly Holzhauser being the revelation (he gets compared to Vanaken). I expect Beerschot to play the counter style game and Club Brugge to patiently build without taking all too many risks themselves of being countered at the start of the match. I took a pre-game bet on 1st Half Under 1.25 @ 1.850 and will see where it goes and with an eye to put my stake safe at one point if possible. Newly promoted teams tend to have a difficult time aways away against top teams. there are still no fans in the stadium though.

Anderlecht vs Moeskroen

Big news last week with Vincent Kompany ending is player career now becoming the main head coach of Anderlecht. Basically, he wants to play offensive attractive 'Manchester City style" play with the team as seen in the first couple of matches last season when he was Player/Coach. The result was that they played way too naive in defense and got punished like crazy for it dropping their confidence which resulted in Vercauteren coming on board who had way more defensive intentions. Last season during the early period they also always played an excellent 1st half with high intensity to fully collapse in the 2nd half. The main difference now is that the players have become a lot stronger physically. Moeskroen o far hasn't shown all too much aside from playing quite good in block and having a really hard time to score. I fully expect Anderlecht to take a furious start again in this match with Moeskroen crawling back in front of their goal hoping to be able to punish Anderlecht on the Counter. Anderlecht is facing all the easy opponents (Oostende | Cercle | Waasland are their next 3 opponents) and I do expect them to be able to get into a good run because of this despite the fact that their play so far has not been the best and the team itself still has to grow a lot. The only pre-game bet that slightly tempts me is Anderlecht Win & Both To Score @ 2.90 but I'm not sure yet if I will take some of it as Moeskroen is high on my Team Total Under list. All action will be live in this one. No Pre-Game Bets

Late info might change my view on what is written in these previews. I will cover these matches live in our SBC Discord Channel. All my bigger pre-game & Live bets can automatically be followed on Copytip
