This blockchain so called the "Hyperledger Project," says that through digital verification, physical product, process verification, and third-party oversight, diamonds can be tracked.
What's the Purpose?
The purpose of this blockchain technology is to track the place your diamonds/precious metals were retailed from and to see if they are authentic. Now this is to your advantage because we all know that the blockchain eliminates trust so, you will not be scammed by your retailers.
