Hi everyone!

I am happy to inform you about an impressive achievement of Czech cinematography. The Painted Bird, a black and white drama produced and directed by the renowned Czech director Vaclav Marhoul, received the prestigious student award Cinema for UNICEF at the International Film Festival in Venice, Italy.

Based on the famous Jerzy Kosinski´s novel of the same name, The Painted Bird tells the story of a young Jewish boy Joska who is sent to Eastern Europe to escape antisemitic persecution during the World War II.

Know as the first film ever to feature an artificially created interslavic language, The Painted Bird has had controversial reception so far as many people couldn´t stand the amount of violence depicted in the movie, although the reviews from film critics have mostly been very positive.
