Chicago to make future plans a graduation requirement
Students will soon have to show that they’ve secured a job or received a letter of acceptance to college, a trade apprenticeship, a gap year program or the military in order to graduate, The Washington Post reports.
Emanuel’s plan, approved by the Board of Education in late May, makes Chicago's the first big-city system to make post-graduation plans a requirement.
Even more reason to believe that high school diplomas are becoming worthless. If you graduate with a high school diploma there is no guarantee of a job. A high school diploma also does not necessarily prepare graduates for these "future plans", whether it be military service, a career in entertainment, a trade, or college. This kind of rule risks putting the burden on the students who can get held back for not having future plans if the school they go to does not prepare them for the future and unfortunately many schools are not future oriented.
Social media classes in my opinion should be taught where students learn how to monetize their content. Financial literacy classes should also be taught and it should include classes on cryptocurrencies, along with stocks, REITs, and municipal bonds.
I`m from germany and we have a great system called dual university education. Where students spent have there time in the university and the other half in big companies to get them ready for the future job.

Nice idea you got here. Social media has become hug industry with hug potential. It is equally good to teach about finance as money in the world don't know how to make money and how to control money in other to make more money. Crypotcurrency is the easiest way to make money. It doesn't require you to be rich before going into it. Good job. Weldon.

Maybe the City of Chicago should demonstrate some good faith and guarantee students gainful employment if they graduate?
Or guarantee that students will be able to read, write and make change for $1.00 without the use of a $400 government funded iPad.

Well, graduation is really important for one's career. High school diploma is not enough for a successful and handsome career. Jobs are limited, no. of students are growing. WHat to do ?
But with the advent of internet, there are a lot of opportunities arising everywhere for a bright career in blogging, cryptocurrency trading, online marketing, social netwrking, share marketing and many more. Students must get enough knowledge in any one of th above, and believe me the future will be bright.
