Steemit, this has to end: Judge tells jury "God Told Him Defendant Isn't Guilty" [dTube]

in news •  7 years ago  (edited)

Texas state district judge Jack Robison intervenes with a jury's deliberation and urges them to find Gloria Romero-Perez not guilty of human trafficking; the jury goes against the judge's wishes and returns with a guilty verdict, leading to the defendant being sentenced to twenty-five years in prison

Whether you believe in god(s) or not: "XY, because god told me so" should disqualify any statement.

The system has been working like this forever.... but only if you have money....I guarantee some money was dropped on his lap...little old me does not have a chance.

@davidpakman as a beginner to me this post is very nice and useful, thanks from inland Aceh, Indonesia best regards and do not forget follow

He needs to be disrobed.

lol- when I reported on this a few days ago, I said this pretty much typifies everything wrong in our society, from top to bottom.

This judge is out of his mind. Why use God? If there is enough evidence to incriminate the defendant, the law should be carried out. No judge has the right to influence the jury.

pleess follow me...

I've just read in the news "God told him the defendant—a woman accused of sex trafficking involving a teen girl—wasn’t guilty" I mean are people blind or they are nut jobs who accept this kind of shit.

great.

The Lord works in mysterious ways.

But does The Lord really support criminals?

Of course, but in this case it seems his hand was guiding the jury. That does not mean the Lord was not also with the defendant. Jesus had to go to jail as well.

Good post...thank for info

twenty-five years of prices is very little for a person who has done that crime
@davidpakman

That's horse shit. Religious reasoning should not affect how judges decide case, it infringes on the defendant's religious freedom

you're missing the point, the judge DOESN'T decide the case, the jury does, and the judge was influencing the jury, or trying to anyway

Oh! I missed that . Its still horse shit any way. One would think a judge would be above such

Separation of Church and State does not apply to the judge's personal beliefs and may not exist at all through this mechanism if there are enough judges of the same religion. This judge stated his views; but what if he had not? There is no way of knowing if a judge lets his personal views influence the way he allows/disallows evidence that may be relevant to a case.

the mere fact that the judge is talking to the jury about what he thinks the verdict should be is the problem

Amazing write-up!”

Maybe the Lord is simply against this judge and wanted him to give the world a reason to not be a judge any longer. That's how the Lord works mysteriously.

very post

Verry good

Well, if his god is money, and money has spoken to him, then there is absolutely no doubt why he acted this way ...

This is why Nigeria should adopt this system to reduce the rate of corruption in our law courts where the judges have the final say
