The biggest news of the week is not the mid-term elections, it’s not Jeff Sessions getting fired… it’s not even the fight that broke out at the Brazilian bumbum contest (although that’s a close second).

No, the biggest news of the week is NBC news running a story that a pair of Harvard researchers are raising the possibility that the long thin object that is passing through our solar system named Oumuamua is an alien spacecraft. As they say in a paper to be published Nov. 12 in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, the object "may be a fully operational probe sent intentionally to Earth vicinity by an alien civilization."

After a careful mathematical analysis of the way the interstellar object sped up as it shot past the sun, they say Oumuamua could be a spacecraft pushed through space by light falling on its surface — or, as they put it in the paper, a "lightsail of artificial origin."

Hello! These are Harvard researchers and it’s a story that’s published on NBC news. We are way outside of crazytown sources on this story.

I don’t know about you, but I’m intensely interested in this story and will be following it closely. It’s a hell of a lot more interesting than most of the stuff out there that basically makes me mad.
