Survey Finds Almost Half of New York Times Employees Don't Feel Free To Exchange Views

in news •  4 years ago

A recent New York Post report published survey data which indicated that roughly 51 percent of employees working at the Times agreed that they feel there is a free exchange of views when working with the company.
But this means that almost half of those employees filling out the survey disagreed and didn't feel there was a free exchange of views for them.

In recent years, research into perceptions of media outlets has found that a growing percent of Republicans distrust certain news sources, like CNN, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. Ironically, they don't seem to hold the same criticism for right-wing media like Fox News, though there is a growing number of individuals who see both as opposite arms of the same propaganda machine.

It's unfortunate that millions of people still cannot recognize when they're being manipulated and controlled through these media channels. Both the left and the right are not immune to this action.

In general, about 40 percent of Americans say they are distrustful of mainstream media. But where it gets comical is if those Americans don't include channels like Fox into that narrative when they're referring to media organizations they don't trust.

Just as we see more people these days are looking elsewhere for health advice, going to online blogs and videos etc, they are doing the same for political advice too. Unfortunately, there is also a lot of misinformation posted online to be found which could be just as manipulative as the info one might find in a well-known media outlet that has grown to become distrusted by so many.

For those who don't feel like their viewpoints are being valued or sought after in the workplace, when they're hoping to contribute to a mindful discussion that brings true journalism and truth to the forefront, they can always go looking elsewhere for another opportunity.

Any media outlet that is going to treat elected officials as infallible royalty and refuse to be critical in reporting the truth, by reciting false government narratives etc or blocking out certain viewpoints on a matter, cannot claim to be doing their job right. This goes for media channels that post political commentary on either side of the spectrum.
