I almost never participate in online debate over politics or social issues but there are a lot of people out there that feel it is their duty to do so. The comments section in political posts are usually a LOT more interesting than the article that they are written about and it is very amusing to see how worked up people get when talking with complete strangers over something that no one is going to change their mind over. The thumbs up and thumbs down ratios are very predictable depending on what site you happen to be one such as over on Fox, the thumbs ups are always going to favor conservative views and over on Yahoo, it will be the reverse.

The most amusing threads are the people who are trolling though and I would imagine they aren't even interested in the debate but rather, just getting anyone fired up that they can. They'll present completely made up statistics to see if it sticks with any of the sheep on any particular side and they will bash the forum in general as well as most if not all of the people in it. This is where the real fun sets in for people like me because I feel as though anyone that takes these forums seriously has borderline mental problems if they believe that they are making any difference at all with their words.
I recently discovered this guy in the Yahoo forums and he (or she) appears all over the place with the same response yet people continually fall for it.
How do you even respond to that? In most instances nobody bothers beyond this initial to-and-fro because well, he already gave you the response and is attacking himself. It's absolutely perfect and I can only hope that it maybe opens the eyes of a few people that are commenting in a serious fashion.
I get a real kick out of this because of all the times that I've seen Joe comment on a wide variety of topics he always says the same thing and once this comment drops, the boards almost immediately die down. It's almost as though Joe makes people realize the futility of their comments and everyone gives up. This is probably a bit dreamy on my part because although I don't personally know anyone that does this, there are likely millions of people out there that genuinely think that their comments on an online forum are making some sort of difference.
Well Joe, whoever you are, I commend you. Forums in general need more people like you.
I would say it's where I get at least 50% of my screenshots. And they take the bait...

i love your screenshots from what i have seen. These people are clearly trolling and it is amazing how many people are just completely unaware of it. This , at least in my mind, is the perfect response for any political forum out there.
