Kroger Karen is racist!

I can't believe what qualifies as news these days and this is a prime example not just of bad journalism but also dangerous journalism because there is no reason at all for this to be showcased all around the internet for any other reason than to add a little more gasoline to racial tensions.

It's a story about an argument between a couple of people at a grocery store where one of the people is made to look foolish on the internet. I do not know that full story but there were some kids, some Gatorade and a woman following another woman out to the parking lot and then refusing to get out from behind her car and blocking her is using her own body and her child as well.

This is stupid, and the woman who is doing that is definitely in the wrong but here is the problem I have with this: This isn't news. This isn't important. These people in Detroit could probably have sorted this out on their own without involving an international audience.

At first, this extremely stupid story was simply restricted to people making dumbass racist comments on youtube but then a couple of "news" websites such as heavy.com picked up the story. This is still ok at at this point because Heavy.com isn't exactly a super serious website and mostly they focus on pretty light-hearted and funny stuff. So everything is still ok at this point. Most people probably wouldn't have even heard about it and even if they did they wouldn't pay it much mind.

But then one of the true heavy hitters of gaslighting and poking racism with a stick until something happens kicks in to make a mountain out of a molehill as usual.

Yahoo news can be counted on to have a whole mess of trash articles all compiled in one easy-to-access list. It is a virtual treasure trove of dumb-news that frequently features such wonders of journalism as The Daily Beast, Salon, and Vanity Fair. Publications that really wont write about anything unless it is either about Trump, or about how white people are bad!

Despite the fact that Yahoo News is obviously in the business of Trump-hating and race-baiting, they have a very large audience and this is where the story on Kroger Karen because really dumb and can only result in people getting more on edge with the impending race war.

There is no journalistic merit to covering this story, there is no story here - people act foolish all the time but here is the main problem I have with it. Imagine, just for a second if this was a video about a white woman being harassed by a black woman and her kids? What would the media reaction to that be? Can you guess? Because I already know the answer.

Basically, if you flipped the races of the two people involved in this "story" it would have been considered "racist" to even film it, or talk about it, let alone make articles about it. This sort of double-standard has to stop (but I know it wont) and that is the main reason why this non-story ranks about mid way up on the line on the scale of ....

It is incredible how media is turning everything around. One thing is creating stories out of nothing, and the other thing is when they use the clickbait method showing a photo or writing a title directly misleading (for example; famous portoguese footballer died, showing a photo of Ronaldo). However, when you read the story, you read about a person who got an autograph from Ronaldo during his childhood and never managed to become a great footballer. This is just an example, but it still is how media often works and operates today... everything to create a story, also out of that which isn't a story!

yeah, this popped up on a near crazy friend of mine's FB page and his looney tune friends were all crying about racism and what not even though there is nothing that happen in the video that is even remotely racist. The response to it by the public is very racist though and the people who are doing it can't seem to see the incredible irony in their actions.

that's the thing. People want racism to exist so badly that they are searching for it, and trying to make non racist situations appear racist by any means necessary. SO now any time a white person gets upset with someone who isn't white the only reason they could possibly have for doing so is because they hate colored folks, right?

race baiting is all the rage in the news right now. Everyone wants a piece of some sort of Instagram fame for a minute or two. People point their fingers at the media for ruining society but I think that social media is just as responsible. Plus the fact that a lot of people are idiots doesn't help.

seen that stuff about the Nascar driver finding a noose that was actually a door opening rope that had been there for years? If you are intently looking for racism, you are going to find it in places it doesn't exist.

well if people stopped paying attention to it then it wouldn't "go viral"... the amount of people i see that are ignoring the world around them and vying for an opportunity to score "likes" while ignoring the public area around them is astounding.

This woman's 15 seconds of fame is already over... thankfully.

i was talking the other day to someone about how once social media went mobile is when the world and real relationships started falling apart. It makes sense. We have had social media for a long time, but it was relegated to the household until 5 or 6 years ago.
