This is not a story about dumb reporting, which is what I normally focus on, but rather the actions of an extremely dumb person that despite having more than enough money to have tons of other options than the one he chose, decided to ruin a promising career filled with wealth and fame because of one night of drunken idiocy that resulted in the death of another person.

His name is Henry Ruggs and he WAS (past-tense) a wide-receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders and I am not familiar with how much he was paid or if he was even very good but since he was signed in the NFL he was probably making very very good money. After his crash, which was horrendous, he was immediately released by the Raiders and now he is facing two felony counts.

After departing from a party, drunk, he was driving his Corvette at an astounding 156 miles per hour when he struck the back of another vehicle and this is where the situation gets horribly gruesome.
While Ruggs suffered only minor injuries and his passenger more severe but not life-threatening ones, the car they struck caught fire and the woman who was trapped inside of it was burned to death. The crash had not killed her instantly and I am sure she suffered greatly.

bystanders tried to help the women out of the car and one of them even had a fire extinguisher, but it was not enough to put out the raging inferno.
To make matters even worse, Ruggs was combative with hospital staff and police and he refused to take a blood alcohol test but just a bit later a court order was secured and he was forced to do so. He had a .161 BAC (blood alcohol content.)
To put this into perspective I remember my own past and this bar that I would frequent and it had a breathalyzer on the bar so that people could check to see if they were below the legal limit before driving. Us being recently 21, we of course tried to get as many shots as possible to see who could get the highest number. I had on a couple of occasions achieved the level that Riggs reached, and my body and speech wasn't cooperating with me anymore.
Unlike Ruggs, I didn't drive home: I either walked or took a taxi like a sensible human being. Even if I was to drink and drive, I certainly wouldn't have used this time to see if I could reach maximum speed on my super-car.
Even if this man is found not guilty of vehicular manslaughter, which he certainly should be found guilty of, his career is over and this doesn't even begin to pay for the damage he has caused. Someone is dead now because he was too much of a "baller" to get a ride back home that he certainly could have afforded. I hope that the judges in Nevada throw the book at him and that he does some serious time for this because his one night of good times and frivolity has insured that 23-year old Tina Tintor will no longer be able to do anything ever again. He killed her dog in the accident as well.
You sir are beyond dumb, you are the scum of the earth and I hope that you get what you deserve for your blatant negligence towards fellow humans.
