In an interview with Noblesse Men magazine, Eugene talked about his role as Oh Yoon Hee in "Penthouse". Although the drama was a huge success in Korea and abroad, Eugene almost refused to participate.
The first season of "Penthouse" marks Eugene's first acting project in five years. That's why he's worried that he won't be able to show good acting. Moreover, this drama is characterized by a number of intense scenes and uneasy emotional depictions.
"Suddenly five years have passed. For an actor, five years is a very long period of time. I was worried and thought, 'Can I start again?'" Said Eugene.
He continued, “It took me some time before I decided to play the role of Oh Yoon Hee. It's on a different level. Because it's a role where every moment revolves around shocking and extreme emotions.
Nevertheless, Eugene finally agreed to star in "Penthouse" thanks to the support of those closest to him. "But everyone around me told me that they wanted me to take that role. And they gave me courage by saying that I could do it," said the S.E.S member.
On the other hand, Eugene tries to connect with his character despite having many dark aspects. "Any villain role can be accepted (by viewers) as long as the character is convincing and acceptable," said Eugene.
