Russia’s Largest Bank To Launch Its Stablecoin In Spring
Sberbank, Russia’s largest retail bank plans to launch its own stablecoin as early as the spring, based on reports. The bank sent an application to Russia’s central bank for the issuance of the digital token to its customers, reports also showed. This digital token will be equated with the Russian ruble and will run on the blockchain. However, the Bank of Russia looks forward to piloting its own central bank digital currency by year-end. Hive Blockchain Buys 6,400 Bitcoin Mining Machines From Canaan
Hive Blockchain, a Canadian bitcoin miner recently bought 6,400 Avalonminer 1246 mining machines from Canaan. These miners will increase existing hash power by adding 576 petahash per second (PH/s) bringing it to to an estimated 1,229 PH/s. The Avalonminer 1246 cost $1,450 each according to Canaan’s Web Store. The mining equipments will be delivered in eight tranches within the year. Read Full on Bitcoin News.
Singapore Exchange To Manage Trading With Blockchain
Singapore Exchange (SGX) announced partnership with Temasek, an investment firm, to use distributed ledger technology, Blockchain, to manage the issuance and trading of financial products like bonds, funds and sustainable financial products, listed on its platform. Lee Beng Hong, SGX head of fixed income, currencies and commodities, said that the announcement makes the partnership official and also extends the time frame of the last trial. Soulja Boy Plans To Purchase XRP And Already Owns Bitcoin
DeAndre Cortez Way (aka Soulja Boy) American rapper, asked how to buy XRP on his Twitter page after he failed to purchase XRP on Coinbase. On January 22nd, the rapper announced on his Twitter page that he bought some Crypto including BNB and he requested for more coin recommendations. Valkyrie Files For Bitcoin Exchange Traded Fund With U.S. SEC
Valkyrie Digital Assets submitted an application yesterday, January 22 for a Bitcoin Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. Valkyrie is the second firm to apply for a Bitcoin ETF after VanEck resubmitted its application last month. In their proposal, the firm indicated that they would trade on NYSE Arca. Coinbase To Sell Private Stock Ahead Of Upcoming IPO
Reports shows that Coinbase will hold a secondary market for its private stock on the Nasdaq ahead of upcoming Initial public offering (IPO). The Secondary markets will allow employees, former employees and others who hold stock in a private company to sell some portion of their shares in the view of a public offering. China's Major Cities Will Join To Test Digital Yuan In 2021
China’s biggest cities are planning to hold pilots to promote the use of the country’s central bank digital currency (CBDC) this year. Beijing's mayor said the capital will hasten development of "demonstration zones" for fintech and professional services over 2021. That effort will include promoting a pilot application for the CBDC, officially called Digital Currency Electronic Payment (DCEP). Coinbase Exchange Now Has Over $90 Billion In Assets
Based on reports published on Friday, Coinbase Crypto exchange now has over $90 billion in assets on platform and over 43 million registered users. This surge in figures was influenced by the massive inflow of institutional investors like MicroStrategy who used the exchange brokerage to recently purchase large sums of Bitcoin.
