Binance Pool Will Support Taproot, Next Major Bitcoin Upgrade
Binance Pool, is ready to support Taproot. With all other major pools also onboard, it is a good sign for the next major Bitcoin upgrade. Binance Pool represents 11% of the Bitcoin mining hashrate, so its support pushes mining pool support to about 91% of the hashrate. Russian Oil Giant Gazprom Neft Launches Bitcoin Mining Operation
The third-largest oil producer in Russia, Gazprom Neft has launched a cryptocurrency mining operation at one of its oil sites in Siberia. Gazprom Neft is an oil unit of Russian gas giant Gazprom.The company will be using the associated gas from an oilfield in the Khanty-Mansiysk region of northwestern Siberia to generate electricity that it will be selling to the crypto mining operations. Dash Announces New Updates For Dash Platform And DashPay Wallet
Dash Core Group announced the release of new updates for the Dash platform and the DashPay smartphone wallet app. The update include development on the v0.17 of its platform to the testnet phase and release of DashPay to the public alpha phase. With v0.17 now in testnet, v0.18 is the next item on the agenda. The upgrade is feature for January or early February 2021. This is a significant milestone in the Dash long term vision. Bitcoin’s Market Cap Flips Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway’s Market Cap
Bitcoin briefly hit an all-time high last night, breaking past $29,000 to set a new ATH of $29,400. BTC rose by 24.76% in the last week alone. Bitcoin’s market cap hit $546 billion in the midst of the price upsurge flipping the market cap of Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares, with a market cap of $543.8 billion. Social Capital’s CEO Chamath Palihapitiya Forsees Bitcoin Hitting $150k
Chamath Palihapitiya, CEO at Social Capital, forsees Bitcoin at $150k, which is obtainable considering the current state of the market. In a recent tweet after Bitcoin hit a new high above $29000 he said “When BTC gets to $150k, I will buy The Hamptons and convert it to sleepaway camps for kids, working farms and low-cost housing.” In response, Willy Woo of on-chain analytics told him to start planning towards the logistics towards 12 months. Grayscale Investment Hits $20 billion in AUM As Bitcoin's Price Moons
Grayscale Investment ended 2020 with $20 billion Asset Under Manager. The asset manager, increased its holdings by ten times in 2020. $17.4 billion of Grayscale’s funds are in the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust. Bitcoin’s uptrend price also boosted Grayscale hitting $20 billion before 2021. Currently, Grayscale Bitcoin Trust trades at a 17% premium, its Litecoin Trust trades at a 2378% premium. Bitcoin Hits New Record High Against Gold
Bitcoin reached another all time high of $29,000 USD which is 15.40 gold ounces, according to MarketWatch, beating gold. Demand for the safe-haven asset is on the rise. Bitcoin has made an impressive over 300% gain from January 2020 to December 2020 while gold made 25% gain from the beginning of the year to the end. Bitcoin Records New All-Time High Value Above $30,000
The price of Bitcoin has shot up 3.10% in the last 24 hours to mark its new all-time high value of $30,000 a figure that was never seen before. Bitcoin is now up 307% since the beginning of this year. Bitcoin has divided opinion as its price more than tripled in 2020 amid a worsening pandemic. Wallet Addresses With At Least 1000 BTC hits New High
Data from Glassnode shows that the number of wallet addresses holding at least 1,000 bitcoin – climbed to a new record high of 1,994 few days ago. Whale accumulation of bitcoin continue to drive the cryptocurrency’s price upwards. Bitcoin’s price rose over 160% between October to December 2020.
