Total Value Locked In DeFi Hits $17.45 Billion
The total value locked in the decentralized finance (DeFi) industry hit $15 billion, according to DeFi Pulse stats. The biggest projects in the space right now are three lending protocols: Maker, Aave and Compound. They have $3.6 billion, $2.44 billion and $2.36 billion locked in respectively. A year ago, the entire DeFi ecosystem was worth only $658 million, just some months before it appeared at the forefront of the whole industry. Read Full on Decrypt.
Ethereum Taps $1000 Eyeing To Hit Its New All Time High
The price of Ethereum, the second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, today hit $1,005 the culmination of a weekend bender thatâs added a few hundred dollars to its price. Coinbase showed that Eth briefly hit that price at 23:38 UTC, before dropping below $1,000. Ethereumâs strong performance puts it well on the way to surpassing its all time high of $1,432 set in January 2018. Litecoin Overtakes XRP By Market Capitalization
Litecoin (LTC) is now the third most valuable public blockchain, flipping Ripple (XRP), with a market cap of $11 billion. LTC only trails only Bitcoin and Ethereum with $615 billion and $127 billion, respectively. The spectacular expansion of LTC and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) prices, specifically, can be tied to the announcement by PayPal in late October. Shenzhen Gives Away Red Packet Lottery Worth 20 Million Digital Yuan
Shenzhen of China announced the give away of another 20 million digital yuan, worth $3 million on new yearâs Eve. The give away includes 100,000 red packets lottery to local residents worth 200 digital yuan, or $30 each, to support the ongoing real-life test of Chinaâs central bank digital currency. Mike Novogratz, Founder and CEO of Galaxy Digital affirms in an interview that institutional investors are the major driving force for the current Bitcoin bull run and also influencing the supply of BTC. Crypto Venture Funding Reached An Average of $5.7 million In 2020
Crypto venture funding increased by 32.5 percent ($5.7 million) in 2020 compared with 2019, according to The Block Research. Almost every category of venture funding in the Cryptocurrency space grew in number of deals and funding. The funding ranged between $1 Million to $5 Million. Satoshi Nakamoto has surpassed the likes of Sheldon Adelson, He Xiangjian, and Len Blavatnik, to become the 33rd richest person in the world on the 12th birthday of Bitcoin, his world-changing creation. In July 2020, Whale Alert estimated that he had managed to mine 1,125,150 BTC before leaving the community for good more than a decade ago.
