Former UKIP Politician Godfrey Bloom Buys His First Bitcoin

Former UKIP politician (the UK Independence Party) Godfrey Bloom took to Twitter to share that he made his first bitcoin purchase this week, diversifying his portfolio from the precious metals. The 70-year old has enough gold and silver that had a blast in 2020 thanks to the Federal Reserve’s monetary stimulus. Now, he is looking to get into the leading digital asset, which has been attracting a lot of big players this year as an “inflation hedge.” He further insisted that some top crypto people should teach him about crypto. Bitcoin Interest Growing In Egypt Amid Economic Crisis

As the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the Egyptian economy into recession and unemployment, more and more Egyptians see the benefits of trading and mining Bitcoin as an alternative source of income. Wael al-Nahhas, an economist and financial advisor to several investment institutions in Egypt, said many young Egyptians started investing in small amounts despite the increase in the value of the bitcoin. ECB Says Europe Must Prepare To Launch A Digital Euro

ECB board member Fabio Panetta said that the European Central Banks should be preparing to issue a digital euro. In a study published on Friday, the ECB said a digital euro could help an environment where citizens have abandoned cash, other means of payments became unavailable, or foreign forms of electronics have taken over. We should be ready to issue a digital euro if and when developments around us make it necessary,” said Panetta. Binance Pours Millions Worth of BNB Into Smart Chain BUIDL Program

Binance has launched the BUIDL Reward Program in an attempt to attract greater dApp development on the Binance Smart Chain. Binance has invested $5 million worth of BNB into the project. This is part of Binance’s bigger venture — a $100 million injection into a DeFi accelerator fund. Their newest tool was created with the goal to reward developers who deploy usable dApps on the Binance Smart Chain. The Bank of Thailand Issues $1.6B In Government Bonds On IBM Blockchain

The Bank of Thailand has issued the world’s first blockchain-based government savings bond platform. The Bank of Thailand launched the world’s first blockchain-based government savings bond issuance platform using IBM’s blockchain technology. Within two weeks of the launch, the central bank sold more than $1.6 billion worth of savings bonds. The use of blockchain technology is said to have reduced the bond issuance time from 15 days to just two days.
