Salah contract
Nabil Fekir’s arrival at Liverpool will result in Mohamed Salah getting a bumper new contract at Anfield.
The Lyon star is closing on his move to Liverpool, with the Reds expected to announce the £53m deal by tomorrow.
Reports have claimed that Fekir, 24, will pocket around £140,000-a-week at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp when he pens a five-year deal.
And according to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool will hand bumper new contracts to Salah and Sadio Mane this summer following Fekir’s arrival.
The Reds are desperate to ward off Real Madrid and Barcelona, who are said to be tracking the Liverpool duo.
Umtiti talks Fekir deal
Barcelona star Samuel Umtiti says he has no idea whether his France team-mate Nabil Fekir will join Liverpool before the World Cup.
"The situation of Nabil? I did not talk to him about it,” Umtiti said when asked about Fekir.
“It's better to fix it yourself. I just hope it will be before the World Cup.”
Salah swap deal?
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah could be off to Real Madrid this summer, reports in Spain claim.
Salah, 25, has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona in recent months following the winger’s stunning Premier League return.
And according to Spanish news outlet Diario Gol, Real will go all out for Salah this summer.
They say Real president Florentino Perez is willing to offer £88m (€100m) AND Marco Asensio in a player-plus-cash deal for Salah.
Perez is a big admirer of Asensio, however, the Real chief’s desire to sign the Liverpool superstar outweighs his fondness for the Spain international.
Liverpool exits confirmed
Liverpool have confirmed the exits of Emre Can and Jon Flanagan.
The Reds have announced their retained list for the 2018/19 season and Jon Flanagan and Emre Can are the big names leaving the club.
It ends months of speculation over the latter's situation with the German having refused to sign a new deal with the club.
outh players Toni Gomes, Paulo Alves, Mich'el Parker, Jordan Williams, Anthony Glennon, Jordan Hunter and Harvey Whyte will also depart, while Yan Dhanda has agreed a free transfer to Swansea City.
New contracts have been offered to U23s duo George Johnston and Conor Masterson.
Fekir finished?
Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool is finished, France Football journalist Nabil Djellit says.
He tweeted: “Fekir’s going to play Liverpool. Finished.”
Fekir should be confirmed as a Liverpool player this afternoon.
Fekir picture leaked
Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool is edging closer and a picture showing him wearing the club’s shirt has emerged online.
Fekir is expected to complete his move to Liverpool today after passing a medical in Clairefontaine.
Liverpool are believed to be preparing the announcement for when the French stock market closes at 4pm today.
And a picture has emerged online, seemingly from the Liverpool website announcing the move, with Fekir in a Liverpool shirt.
Twitter user LFC_AL tweeted: ‘Just seen this. Deal is done!!! #Fekir Friday’ with the mage.
“Lies,” one fan tweeted.
“Looks legit to me,” another responded.
“it's done - too good to be photoshop surely,” another said.
Lyon deny Fekir move
Nabil Fekir’s move to Liverpool is now in jeopardy after Lyon categorically denied the player is close to completing a £53m switch.
The attacking midfielder was fully expected to finalise his eagerly-anticipated move to Anfield on Friday once his medical was completed at Clairefontaine, France's national team training base.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has repeatedly denied reports that Fekir was set to leave the Ligue 1 outfit before the World Cup.
And the club's official twitter have added fresh doubt over the likelihood of an imminent deal.
"The information on the transfer of Nabil Fekir is false. Olympique Lyonnais categorically denies the false information disseminated by many media about the transfer of Nabil Fekir to the Liverpool club," they wrote.
"In this period of transfers where the slightest rumour is often presented as a reality, Olympique Lyonnais reminds that only the information broadcast by the club on its website is authentic."
Fekir twist?
Nabil Fekir will be thinking about calling off a move to Liverpool - because Real Madrid or Barcelona may want him instead.
That's according to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol, who thinks Fekir will be tempted to wait in case he stars at the World Cup.
"The issue with Fekir is Liverpool are trying to be very, very smart," Solhekol told the Transfer Talk podcast.
"They are trying to get their business done as early as possible. In a lot of ways when there's a World Cup or European Championships, it pays to get your business done early in case the players you are signing have a really, really good tournament and attract a lot of interest.
"Then there price goes up and Liverpool behind the scenes are trying to sign Fekir before the World Cup.
"If you are the player, or if you are his agent, you're thinking 'Liverpool are after me, other people are sniffing around, should I just hang on and wait for the World Cup? I might be top scorer at the World Cup. Real Madrid or Barcelona might come in for me'.
"But we've seen Liverpool be very, very smart this summer, tieing down two midfielders and they are working very, very hard to get Fekir as well."
But Express Sports still understands Liverpool are set to complete a £53million deal for Lyon ace Fekir today.
Fekir latest
Liverpool remain confident of signing Nabil Fekir today despite Lyon’s statement.
Liverpool made a breakthrough last night and hope to the deal confirmed today.
Lyon however have denied a deal is in place saying: "The information on the transfer of Nabil Fekir is false.
However it is understood Liverpool remain confident a deal can be concluded this afternoon.
Fekir wages revealed
Nabil Fekir is set to become Liverpool's third highest earner upon completion of his £53m transfer from Lyon.
The 24-year-old is expected to finalise his mega-money switch on Friday afternoon once he has completed a medical at Clairefontaine, the France national team’s training base.
Fekir has made no secret of the fact he was looking to secure a move to Liverpool in recent weeks.
And the attacking midfielder is set to be rewarded financially with an incredible wage upon his arrival in England, according to French outlet Le Parisien.
The publication claims Fekir will earn £175,000-a-week at Anfield, which will make him the third-highest paid player at the club.
Only Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino currently earn more, both raking in £180,000 every week.
