VR Holiday mixer | Arizona Society Meetup with Google Maps Creator

in news •  7 years ago

Gangplank always hosts the best mixers! This time had the Arizona VR Meetup host their Christmas party here at our shop. It was a fun night of checking out all the new toys VR and AR are bringing to the table. It was a great experience for everyone and the speakers were out of this world. We had the creator of google maps and openbios talking about their passion for VR/AR and what they see the future holds. We do things like this all the time at Gangplank HQ and if your looking for a space to have an event you should check us out! Check out our page for hours and to schedule your own meetup! Join our groups to keep up to date with us, we'd love to hack with you.

AZVR (Arizona Virtual Reality) is a community of VR, AR & xR (mixed reality) developers, entrepreneurs, engineers, content creators, investors and enthusiasts, interested in changing the way people look at the world.

The goal is to bring people together through regular meetups, business development workshops & investor demo days & dev sessions to assist AZ developers and entrepreneurs in creating what's next, using AR, VR and XR technology.

Meetups will include hands on time with the latest gear (including VR hmds, AR glasses, wearables and IOT devices), presentations from VR innovators & thought leaders, reviews & demos of new VR content, platforms & startups.

Breakout sessions will keep things actionable and interesting with sub topics of:

  • VR & 360 Video Development Tools and Platforms

  • VR Content Creation and Workflow

  • VR, AR, MR & AI Biz and Investment Opportunities

  • VR, AR & Real World Gaming and Entertainment

We're out to connect developers to worthwhile projects and resources, entrepreneurs and teams to new partners and talent, investors and advisors to new companies, and enthusiasts to a hell of a good time.

Bring your ideas, skills and domain experience and we'll show you how to supercharge what you're doing with VR and related technology, regardless of industry or interest. There's massive opportunity here to shift gears for anyone in gaming, entertainment, mobile, education, real estate, travel, sports, medical, ad tech and much, much more.

It works with any iphone/android mobile phone & runs any "cardboard" content. trust us. this is the one get one now, regardless if you already have one or getting another.

Everyone (mid-range): Gear VR aka "Oculus Mobile". $99 (plus cost of samsung phone). Fits any current samsung phone + access to exclusive oculus content & experiences....also the best headset to bring on a airline flight, or use in a commercial setting, given the social VR hooks, content & ability to share views.

iPhone Users (mid-range): $100 - Zeiss VR One. The best "slot your phone in" viewer for iphone (or android) currently out there. killer optics, good fit/comfort. Downside is not being able to access certain oculus content found on the samsung GearVR or Oculus Rift. Stay tuned for developments from apple when they launch the iphone8.

Android Users (mid-range) $100 Zeiss VR One. ...works with any mobile device.

Android Users - Google Daydream - great mobile VR for a great (pixel) phones.

Developers: Oculus Rift CV1 -or- HTC Vive (dev kit, limited availability) - Tethered (or wireless with device) full up VR experience. Pull software and experiences from the steampowered.com or oculus stores. If you have to pick one, the vive is currently what we like, but when oculus social comes out (2017) there's reasons to use that over the vive.
