Mexico City streets covered with ashes of Popocatepetl

The streets of some areas of the Mexican capital were covered with ash from the eruption of the Popocatepetl volcano.

The volcano has shown signs of activity on Sunday, 31 July. From vent emissions of ash and steam began. The first eruption of footage were published on Twitter.

National Center for Disaster Prevention (Cenapred) has issued a warning, urging residents of the capital region, the suburbs and the villages at the foot of the volcano to use special protective masks, wash the eyes with water, densely close windows and, if possible, not to leave their homes.

Emission does not affect the work of the International Airport of Mexico City - the wind was blowing in the opposite side of it.

Previous flash Popocatepetl activity was recorded in March 2016. Then the column of ash and gas ejected from the vent, reached a height of two kilometers.
Popocatepetl, whose name in the Aztec language means "Smoky Mountain", located 55 kilometers south-east of Mexico City, the country's capital. The height of the volcano is 5452 meters above sea level. Around the volcano is located agglomeration Puebla - the union of several cities. There's 20 million people live.
