Dhaka-Chittagong Highway's Fenir Mahipal has been completed six months before the scheduled time of construction of the first six-lane flyover in the country, said Road Transport and Stress Minister Obaidul Quader. On January 4, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate this flyover through a video conference from Ganobhaban.
Although the flyover will be six lanes, the minister will have four more service lanes on both sides of the bridge. He also said that the main point of Dhaka-Chittagong highway is 10 lane bridge at Mahipal. The total cost of this project is 181 million 48 lakh taka.
Today, on Monday morning, after the inspection of Road Transport and Construction Minister Obaidul Quader Flyover
Project work started on 1 April 2015. The length of the main flyover is 660 meters, width is 46.6 meters, the length of the service road is 370 meters, the service road width is 7.5 meters, the length of the approach road is 160 meters, 11 spans, the length of the sidewalk is 2700 meters, the PC girder 132.
Chief Engineer of 34 Engineers Construction Brigade Major General Siddiqur Rahman Sarker, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Roy, Superintendent of Police SM Jahangir Alam Sarker, Director of Project Implementing Agency Abdul Momen Limited Director Akhtaruzzaman, Former BUET teacher Azadur Rahman designed the six-lane flyover project. District Awami League Apati and Feni Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Abdur Rahman, general secretary of district Juba League susena Chandra Shil were present.
