Whales of Steem.it are conducting psychological experiments on steem.it membership.

That's one headline that will go over well when it hits the news.
Or Poloniex . . .

Pulling wings off of butterflies is an experiment. . . . not good for the butter-flies though.

Story to follow.

I suggest you Dr. Whales stop and issue an apology.

Good job, keep your contents promoted! :)

Thank you, this is very much appreciated . . . I will pay it forward.

I wrote a community encouragement post today, got 5 or more flags, with massive 10% flags/DV, by the TOP whales, - when 1% would have been fair..... it killed the rep score and payout, and I had a lot of time and thought into it but who cares, about encouraging content right that is then worth $1?

It was a failed experiment and these flags, with no start or end date, or announcement, are driving good people off here daily. Poorly thought out, at best.

Same is happening to me. One user claimed the downvote was just to off set an upvote by a whale, while the user themselves had a value of over $255,000.

Yep!

Time for a #SteemitStrike!

Upvote for been promoted :)

I don't see what is wrong with the experiment

In response, I wrote a news story. And thank you. I hope this helps explains my statement.

Commentary: "I was not informed about the Whale experiment before it started. It was only through the vocal adverse reaction of affected members did details about this Voting Experiment surface. After member were made to feel, anger, discomfort, and resentment. This Experiment was handled in an amateur manner.

Steem.it is still in Beta, and as such changes are expected as information is collected. But, the participating members are not the guinea pigs for the whales or anybody else. Active research to collect data that adversely affects the individual is unethical at best. This membership is deserving of the respect and appreciation of the current leadership."
