Media News and War zone comparison to Natural Disasters and "Mother Nature" guilt?

I just saw on youtube a video regarding how money, greed and politicians affect in a bad way the way we live.
Not that i don't know, but how further can this stupid things go? Added to lot of other new bad things that we hear every day.

Helping people to make homes in risky places with a hand from government?

Below is the video which, after i watched made me to make this post.

Searching for details about their examples in the video, made me find so many other bad things ;-(.

There are some quotes and sources with detailed information and also my thoughts with what i found today (it is more than i put here, but the post will not end with all of them).

I really can't believe that this things happens today. And with such an important problem. At the same time, after all we see that happens, i think they (fake politicians and gov's) are able to do even worse unfortunately - see also the recent "war" against crypto world with important people making wrong and misleading accusations to what really happens (one example here: Bitcoin FUD / SLAP / or new BEGINNING - WHAT TO DO in this moments (Jaime Dimon threats, China bans) - september 15, 2017 — Steemit.

VOX Media - source VIDEO:
Treating hurricanes like war zones hurts survivors - YouTube

and the article in VOX website:
Treating natural disasters like war zones hurts survivors - Vox

The main problem that video shows, it is that wrong information in case of natural disasters is used too much and in some cases with bad intention.

About how official institutions, in some areas, helps people to build homes in very risky zone. With state insurance and promise to rebuild it again and again (you will see the quote later).

And how, media using terms like war zones and mother nature, makes politicians less responsible for some true facts (of course, not in all cases).

Nature can't be responsible for our actions and can't be always blamed for our mistakes.

And also there is no war with nature. There are no enemies in this "fight". It is only nature and it's path.

Some examples for bad choices for building:

HOUSTON:

Developers has been allowed to build over the area of natural flood planes, on the past few years. That puts people and property in harm's way and make the way harder for the area to absorb stormwater

TAMPA

Where unrestricted development has put people and property right on the city's vulnerable coastline...

Barrier islands, like Miami Beach which are supposed to shield the mainland from storms are now bustling hotspots increasing the chance that any massive hurricane will cause massive damage

The problem stays in state policy in any country that don't take this kind of things in consideration (even if they knew about that).

The Week:
The perverse incentives of the National Flood Insurance Program

The week article says why some places are populated when they shouldn't be. And also how Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and its subsidiary, the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) have provided bad information to people to build on a dangerous zone for natural disasters.

They show how NFIP offers flood insurance at low price and make people interested to build in a very risky zone.

Who "pays" for human losses? Of course, nobody. They just took the money and that's it.

As so many times, lot of programs or institutions that are built to help, do more bad things than good ones.

Another example in The Week's article is with journalist John Stossel, who sustain that kind of bad investments. He make all the private insurance being "dumb" because they didn't gived insurance to people:

Since private insurers weren’t dumb enough to sell cheap insurance to people who built on the edges of oceans or rivers, Congress decided the government should step in and do it.

He also said there that:

So if the ocean ate what I built, I could rebuild and rebuild again and again...

see full article here:

Wow, what a good advice. Again, who brings back human loses?

And all of that when the climate change is already happens.

Officials at Flood Control District said:

...the flood control district has no plans to study climate change or its impacts on Harris County, the third-most-populous county in the United States.

source:
Boomtown, Flood Town (Full Text) — ProPublica

Also some officials, unofficialy banned terms like climate change and global warming to not let people be aware? I think we already know and live that.

Here are some articles about that:

Then, media put in news things like "human versus nature", "war zone" , "mother's nature force" maybe to help politicians to escape from guilt and responsibility making "mother nature" being a big monster against we can do nothing about. Yay. It's true that we can't fight with nature "rage", but we can diminish its effects by knowing how and taking cautious measures.

Last, about the looting.

Often, looting is used to scare people and not leaving homes. Some times, just for making audience, with quick verbal reports (with no real confirmations) and later to be found not to be true. I know it is their job, but how low can you go with that?

Looting. Yes, it happens for sure. Always it will be someone who want to steal.
But there could be just photos with people having bags or other things that belongs to them and they are just running. Why use that for audience?

Some good positive refferences with details regarding this kind of missinformation are:

Katherine Fry

She wrote a book regarding:

Constructing the Heartland uses television news coverage of the 1993 Midwest flood as a case study...

Constructing the heartland : television news and natural disaster / Katherine Fry. - Version details - Trove

Regarding the looting theme:

Kathleen Tierney

In the video above are interviews with both of them which i can't find, so i put just some links i find to them. You can see their speakings only in the video above.

Again, i can't believe that could happen when we all see how climate is changing and how our seasons changed with new interactions from nature. We must prepare for new climate and do things accordingly, not selling people land where they could lose everything including their lives.

Yes, i know this information are released from other media source... but is really nothing true? I think all informations here are true with so many examples from true events and there are so much more than we even haven't heard about.

This kind of things along with the power, the money control, just shows us what really happens in this world. The only thing they want is power.

All their greed maked them to move to another level of... whatever they do.

Normally in this moments it should not exist this kind of thinking, even from the worst politicians.

I see also, lot of people and communities helping each other and doing good things for their kinds. This will always give us hope. When we can help somebody or others are there to help us in the worst scenarios.

But we must now the truth about their bad intentions and we always must share what we see and what we find.

Till next time,

Cheers and good steemit time! (if you read it on steemit, if not go check it out)

It's all pretty sickening. The government is quick to bail out billion dollar companies, but yet when something like this happens, everybody is expected to "pull themselves up by the bootstraps!" I know people in Houston right now who are helping so many other people, yet they don't even have a place to stay. Great post by the way! @suicidalviral

Yes, we help each others. That's the thing. But when you fight a life for a home and they lie just to get more money from you is kinda bad.

As i said in the post, who pays for lives?

Only us, as usual.

Yes, we are dumb because we are people that mostly work for that governments and we can't know everything. But they also oblige to know all the laws... eh, it kinda start me to say other thousand things that i feel inside, so i 'll stop ;-)

Anyway, in some places, as on that island that is like a tampon between the shore and the sea, people who want to be there are the ones who should know is not safe to live this way. I wouldn't live there at all.

Yes, like a trip on a vacation it is beautiful, because nowadays that things can be predicted or seen in time to tell you to leave there. But having my home on a shore it is kinda strange.

Eh, don't want to judge too much. We all have our power to choose and we live the way we choose.

Fake news, dramatizing news and greed has become a way of daily life, one really has to research properly before you believe a word.

Developing in areas that are reclaimed should not be used, who knows when nature will drive her natural path through again. However again either the poor are placed into these zones or the super rich for the luxury of living alongside the water, when nature does blaze her trail through their areas the rich have insurance and feign innocence to rebuild. The poor get left in destitution and beg and borrow for assistance.

This is not limited to where you live @ilvstranger it is very much a world wide problem. The poor a becoming poorer, the middle class of yesteryear are slipping back, whilst the rich are becoming richer. Government's don't care they will take the money via taxes no matter which way they do it.

Yes...

I read a post here on steemit a month ago, regarding how somewhere in the ocean has been found a big surface of plastic garbage in the ocean bigger than an island. I don't remember what country was near and from where the majority went from.

The point is that simple people having no education and having as models stupid reach people, will not care about the world they live and how much they hurt nature through they actions. So they will keep continue to pollute and make bad things because they don't see them that way.

So, it comes from the lower ends and goes to upper ones.

I have often wondered the same things...who is benefiting by allowing construction on obviously disaster prone areas and why....$$$
sad, but good post
b.a.

Lol... i always said that the worst being on planet are humans ;-)

We are the most destructive power of nature. We destroy more than we build, we harm each other more than any being... so, there is no hope regarding that. Perfection does not exist and also we will never live in a perfect world as we see in movies.

Although, i would not like that everything to be perfect, it will be monotony ;-)

In my country i saw people cutting forests even they knew they were the only thing that kept the rivers on their bed. And when it was no tree left, the press interviewing people from that village they said that it was no chance to live there after the flooding took everything because it will come again and nobody can't do anything in this moment.

At least we can say in this village its just 2-3 people recklessness, without specialist and institutes who can debate that.

But in America and around, when that government officials say that things and also do nothing, is kinda sad. F**k that stupid money that will bring only bad things to them and they won't be able to spend. Nature always takes it share if you are stupid. What can i say more... ;-(
