Hazardous Explosion Possible In Hours, Days To Mayon Volcano; Alert Level Raised To Level 4

Monday afternoon, January 22, 2018, Magma eruptions happened and the alert level raised to level 4 over Mayon Volcano.

Solidum warned that this volcano's recent activity could also result in hazardous eruptions.

Based to Solidum said that the ask fall has already reached the area of Polangui, Albay. He warned against the danger brought by the lahar flow.

He said even without eruption, if there is a heavy rain, it is posible to have a landslide. If the Mayon Volcano got more active aside from eruption danger, there is also a lahar danger.

Alert level 4 means a hazardous explosion by the volcano may happen in a matter of hours or days, said Paul Alanis of PHIVOLCS.

He said that the lava was released by the eruption since Sunday night and remained confined within the 6 kilometer radius permanent danger zone of the volcano.

The permanent danger zone had been expanded to 7 kilometers after the alert level was raised to 3 earlier this month.

Mayon Volcano is in alert level 4 that means, the volcano is in a state of intense unrest.

The alert was raised following a vulcanian eruption by the volcano according to a report on Super Radyo DZBB.

The eruption produced a ten (10) kilometer high ask column.

There is at least 30,000 people living within and near the kilometer expanded permanent danger zone have been evacuated already to a safer areas.

Residents from areas within the 8 kilometer radius from the crater of Mayon Volcano were also forced to evacuate.
