This is definitely over my head.
Do the things we write actually interact with code that parses them and makes them useful to whatever the blockchain actually is? Or is it a facade/gimmick to make our silly musings feel meaningful, and there's really just magic money being paid for the things people like?
Quite a few people have used the tool to open accounts for themselves and friends. I think it is a little more than a facade :)
If you are interested in using it, let me know and I can help.

I don't know if you understand this post.. SteemConnect is a tool that can be used for users to create new accounts.

But just a moment ago, we were talking about the Steemit account creation fee. I was asking if the Steemit Blockchain actually does anything with the posts, or if the posts on the site are just a facade. What is the function of the blogging aspect of steemit within the greater function of Steem generation?
What were you thinking is just a facade? I will be using SteemConnect to get my wife on here, but that's not what I was asking about.

The blockchain stores and processes all the data. It is more of a UI thing for sites like Steemit.com or Busy.org to do stuff with the data.
