Aceh-North Sumatra Host PON 2024

Jakarta - The Provinces of Aceh and the Province of North Sumatra are officially designated as the host of the 21st National Sports Week (PON) 2024. The appointment took place in the Extraordinary National Sports Conference (Musornaslub) at Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday (24/04 / 2018).

Also attending the event were Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf, Vice Governor of North Sumatra Brigadier General Nurhajizah Marpaung, Chairman of KONI Aceh Muzakir Manaf, Vice Chairman I Bidding Committee of Aceh PON Iqbal Farabi, DPD RI from Aceh Fachrul Razi, Head of Youth and Sports, Musri, and Head of Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Aceh Mulyadi Nurdin.

The determination was done through a voting mechanism followed by representatives of KONI from 34 provinces in Indonesia. As a result, Aceh-North Sumatra province received 24 votes, followed by Bali-NTB 8 votes, and South Kalimantan 2 votes. Thus, Aceh is directly designated as host of PON 2024, while Bali-NTB becomes the first reserve and South Kalimantan as the second reserve.

Governor of Aceh Irwandi Yusuf expressed his gratitude to all parties involved for the successful preparation so that Aceh is designated as Host of PON. This activity said Irwandi is one of Aceh Besar's excellent program, Aceh Teuga.

"Aceh with North Sumatra is ready to carry out this 21st PON event, and this is a very important event for the people of Aceh. For that, we will try to complete the venue needed, "said Irwandi as quoted from the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Government of Aceh Mulyadi Nurdin.

In addition, said Mulyadi Nurdin, the Governor of Aceh also has a commitment to provide the required venue. In total there are 24 venues are prepared and spread in a number of areas. According to him, various supporting facilities are also still being encouraged such as sea, air and land transportation, health and safety facilities.

"In Aceh there are a number of municipal districts that will be involved as PON sites, for the construction of facilities and infrastructure still have time to complete," continued Mulyadi Nurdin.

Government of Aceh said Mulyadi utilize the implementation of PON 2024 as a means to boost the economy and tourism.
