Electricity in the Leuser Outback

Aceh Tenggara - Governor of Aceh Irwandi Yusuf inaugurates Rural Electricity in Naga Timbul Village, Leuser District, Southeast Aceh, Thursday, January 25, 2018.

In this sub district there are at least 11 villages with total subscribers reaching 667 families.

In his speech, the Governor explained that PLN has provided a 43.6km long connection to power the Iistrik energy to Leuser district.

"Thus, starting today 11 villages have been able to enjoy electricity well," said the Governor.

With this achievement, the Governor continued, there are now only 12 more villages in Aceh that have not received electricity. The location of the village is mostly located in the interior.

Nevertheless, the steps to provide electricity for them are still pursued by the government.

"God willing, by the end of 2018 it is expected that the electrification ratio of the village is 100 percent, meaning that all villages in Aceh have enjoyed the District," said the Governor.

The governor also said that the electricity supply step is inseparable from efforts to reduce poverty in Aceh and is an example of a breakthrough that has been done by the government in cooperation with PLN Aceh.

"As we know, poverty centers in Aceh are generally located in rural areas, with the availability of power lines to all villages, we expect the economic activities of the community to grow so as to reduce poverty," said the Governor.

On the occasion the Governor also re-explained, the Government of Aceh has a vision of "The Realization of a Peaceful and Prosperous Aceh through Clean, Fair and Serve Government."

The vision is further outlined in 15 flagship programs, one of which is 'Aceh Energi', which is the fulfillment of electrical energy for the people of Aceh and the industry that comes from renewable clean energy.

According to the Governor, one of the efforts of the Government of Aceh to meet the electricity needs is to seek investors in the energy sector and encourage the performance of PLN in order to provide electricity for all the people of Aceh.

The governor explained that the high level of community growth is accompanied by increasing economic activity, requiring the government to increase the availability of electrical energy in a sustainable manner.

"Without the availability of electric energy, investment also can not enter, because in running the business, the need for electricity is absolute.Therefore, the Government of Aceh will continue to encourage PLN to provide
electricity for all the people of Aceh so that all villages in Aceh can enjoy electricity 24 hours a day, "said the Governor.

The governor also explained that the current level of electricity supply in Aceh is already quite high, namely 96.6 percent.

"Of the 6,474 villages in Aceh, only a handful of villages have yet to receive electricity, in general the villages are located in remote areas," the governor said.

But the Governor asserts, wherever the location of the village is located, it remains the obligation of the Government to provide electricity for the community.

To realize that, the Governor continued, will start by building various main facilities, such as the road to the village for the flow of electricity network easily enter.

"We will also seek to optimize the existing energy sources around the region, such as energy sources from water, wind, geothermal, etc. Thus our energy sources will be more available, and the quality of service will be better.

Electricity in this district was attended by General Manager of PLN Aceh Region Jefri Rosiadi, Southeast Aceh Regent, Forkopimda Aceh Tenggara element, Head of SKPK Aceh Tenggara, and a number of other guests.
