Iran was the first country that has officially banned the augmented reality game Pokemon Go " for security reasons " , reports the British newspaper 'The Independent' . The Supreme Council of Virtual Spaces Iran , a department official monitoring online activities in the country, established in 2012, has banned the use of the application , which is available in more than 35 countries. In early August , Iranian authorities stated that the status of the game in the Islamic Republic would depend on the level of cooperation on the part of its creators .
