Wondering how to earn money from home? It’s easier than you think! With these five easy ways to earn money from home, you can generate extra income even if you work a full-time job, are retired, or any combination of the two. The best part? There’s no advanced degree required, nor do you need to know the right people or be particularly tech savvy!
#1: Use your skills and talents
Earning money from home doesn’t always mean you have to start a new business. You can often get paid for your existing skills and talents, whether that means teaching guitar lessons, offering tutoring services or selling handmade crafts on Etsy. Many people who know how to sew or write are surprised at how much they can earn just by posting their services online or sharing them with neighbors in person. It doesn’t take a lot of time, but it’s an easy way to make extra money — especially if you do it while watching TV at night. #2: Get paid to drive: If you don’t mind getting behind the wheel every once in a while, there are lots of ways to earn money as a driver. For example, companies like Uber and Lyft offer opportunities for drivers who want to work part-time or full-time. This is also one way to turn your car into an investment — some drivers buy cars specifically so they can rent them out when not using them themselves. Others sell items in their cars, like homemade baked goods or used books they no longer need. #3: Sell your unwanted stuff: One of my favorite ways to earn money from home is by selling things I no longer use. Most people have things around their house they aren’t using anymore, but might be able to sell for a profit on sites like eBay or Craigslist. This can be as simple as listing old clothes and accessories you don’t wear anymore (you could even try hosting a clothing swap party!) or more complicated tasks like reselling furniture that doesn’t fit in your new place. Even if you only make $20 here and there, it adds up over time! #4: Participate in focus groups: Focus groups aren't just for students looking to make some extra cash before exams — adults can participate too!
#2-Make an extra income at night/on weekends
Find your side hustle. If you have an area of expertise or a skill that’s in demand, you can use it for additional money on nights and weekends. Maybe you need a little cash on weekends to pay bills, or maybe you want some extra money to go out with friends during the week. Either way, there are plenty of opportunities out there if you know where to look. For example, you could provide tech support at night while you’re sleeping (and possibly make more than your day job pays), take surveys or search for items online to resell, rent out a room in your house via Airbnb while you travel, sell products on eBay...the possibilities are endless. The great thing about these types of income streams is that they can provide steady passive income without having to be tied down to one particular business idea. Once you find something that works, keep doing it—there’s no reason to quit just because you found something else!
#3: Sell what you already have
Are you sitting on a bunch of items cluttering up your home or basement? List them for sale on eBay, Craigslist, Amazon or whatever venue is appropriate. Not only will you get rid of those things you don’t need, but you’ll make a little money while doing so. You can also check out garage sales in your area and see if there are any items you want to buy and resell. #4: Sell your services: If you have a skill that others are willing to pay for, such as carpentry, photography or web design, offer your services at an hourly rate. Depending on what you offer, it may be possible to develop packages that include an initial consultation and multiple follow-up sessions with prospective clients. Just be sure to market yourself effectively and find a competitive rate. #5: Offer your products: This is one of the most common ways people earn extra cash – selling their own products. It doesn’t matter whether you make something tangible like homemade jewelry or something intangible like ebooks; just figure out how to make it valuable enough for people to part with their hard-earned cash.
#4: Try online surveys
Online surveys offer another great way to make money – for example, American Consumer Opinion will pay you up to $50 per survey. Surveys are less of a time commitment than some other work at home jobs, and you can even get bonuses for referring friends. The site only runs surveys on specific products every few months, but they do tend to pay more than most other sites. #3: Participate in focus groups: Focus groups aren’t just for people looking to make some extra cash; businesses hire them to help improve their marketing strategies, too. You may not be able to quit your day job, but it’s not uncommon to be paid anywhere between $50 and $100 per hour for participating in these groups.
#5: Rent out a room in your home
renting out one or more of your bedrooms can be a great way to earn some extra cash without getting up from your computer. Just take careful considerations and make sure you vet your potential guests well before letting them stay for free. If you're really ambitious, turn it into a full-time business that allows you all sorts of flexibility in how you run things. Or just use it as an excuse to get out of cleaning for a few days! You'll have to invest some money upfront for bedding, etc., but if you can cover your rent with guests and save on hotel costs at the same time, there's no reason not to give it a try.
What kind of website do I want? The best thing about these sites is that they are extremely customizable -- you can change any color scheme (from a wide variety), layout, font size/color/style, add graphics... whatever. You don't need to know any code either (though HTML knowledge will help). Wordpress has thousands of free themes online; google free WordPress themes or free blogger themes (or whatever platform) and choose something cool.
