While one may not necessarily agree with Google's practices, I believe that they are well within their rights to terminate any employee that they feel does not add value or takes away from their mission/vision.

I'm still a little in the dark on the story just briefly read through the memo and caught a gimpse of the story but the fact that anyone is surprised he was fired is beyond me. I think we all pretty much know in the workplace they don't want us rocking the boat, speaking out, or really even sharing our personal opinoins outside of workplace issues.
