DENNIS RODMAN ARRESTED FOR DUI

Local authorities have revealed to media houses that former basketball star Dennis Rodman was arrested last Saturday on the suspicion that he was driving under the influence (DUI).

The arrest took place during the late hours on January 13 in Newport Beach, California. At the time, the local authorities had initially pulled the former NBA player over for a traffic violation near 4500 West Coast Highway at around 11:11 p.m. Rodman was on probation at the time of the arrest.

The retired basketball player’s DUI problems have gone from bad to worse since he was on probation at the time he got arrested on Saturday. When the police pulled him over for a traffic violation, they observed his behavior and appearance. This was when they decided to have Rodman undergo a sobriety test to determine whether or not he was intoxicated.

According to the officials, the retired basketball pro, who is 56 years of age, had to spend the night in jail when he failed a breathalyzer test. He failed the test when it returned with a mark that was above the legal limit of 0.8. He was then cuffed and taken to the local police station where he got booked on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
Rodman was very cooperative with the authorities, according to Lt. Rachel Johnson.

The Hall of Famer was in custody until it was determined that he was sober enough to get home safely on his own. This was after he had spent up to 7 hours in detention. He was released on the morning of the following day, Sunday, January 14 at about 6:15 a.m.

This is not the first time Rodman will be connected to traffic-related incidences in Orange County. After Dennis Rodman was released, reports began making the rounds that the former basketball player had been sentenced to three years’ probation after he got arrested for colliding with a car.

Rodman was driving a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) north in the southbound carpool lane near Main Street where he purportedly headed face-to-face toward a sedan, causing the driver to swerve to avoid a collision. The vehicle then crashed into a dividing wall. But Rodman reportedly fled the scene of the crime. It was discovered that he was driving the wrong way down a freeway in Santa Ana, Orange County, California.

Rodman was sentenced to three years of probation for misdemeanor charges in February 2017. If his probation is revoked following the arrest on Saturday, Rodman could be looking at spending up to two years behind bars.

A statement that was released via email by Rodman’s attorney, Paul Meyer stated thus: “Dennis is taking this incidence very seriously and will be taking constructive steps to deal with his personal challenges. He is grateful to and appreciates the competence of the Newport Beach Police Department.” It is not known whether a court date has been set.

Dennis Rodman was once a player for the Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls, etc. before he retired from the NBA in 2000. He lives in Newport Beach.
