भारत के स्टार बॉक्सर विजेंदर सिंह ने मुंबई में हुए एक रोमांचक मैच में चीन के जुल्फिकार मैमैतिअली को हराकर एक साथ प्रोफेशनल बॉक्सिंग के दो टाइटल पर एक साथ कब्ज़ा कर लिया है। विजेंदर की ये प्रोफेशनल बॉक्सिंग में लगातार नौवीं जीत है और वो अब WBO एशिया पैसिफिक सुपर मिडिलवेट के साथ ओरिएंटल सुपर मिडिलवेट चैंपियन भी बन गये हैं।
विजेंदर सिंह से चीन के बॉक्सर को रेफरी के एकमत फैसले से हराया। पहले जज ने विजेंदर को 96-93, दूसरे जज ने विजेंदर को 95-94 और तीसरे जज ने भी विजेंदर को 95-94 से आगे पाया और इस तरह घरेलू दर्शकों के सामने विजेंदर ने एक और शानदार जीत दर्ज की। हालांकि इस मैच में जुल्फिकार ने भी शानदार प्रदर्शन किया, लेकिन भारत में भारतीय बॉक्सर को हरा नहीं पाए।
मैच के बाद विजेंदर ने कहा कि उन्हें इस तरह के खेल की उम्मीद नहीं थी और वो अपना खेल नहीं खेल पाए, साथ ही चीनी बॉक्सर ने खेल भावना का परिचय नहीं दिया। विजेंदर ने ये भी कहा कि वो बॉर्डर पर तनाव नहीं चाहते हैं।
अन्य मुकाबलों में अखिल कुमार ने टाई गिलक्रिस्ट और जितेन्द्र कुमार ने थानेट लिखितकामपोर्न को हराया।
