Do you think that dogs are smarter cats? Maybe you're wrong.
In any case, as established by Japanese scientists, cats perform tests on memory is not worse than dogs, suggesting that they are just as smart.
The study involved 49 pet cats. Researchers concluded that these animals may recall pleasant experiences such as eating your favorite treats.
This kind of ability in animals and have a dog - this is called episodic memory.
People often try consciously to recall past events, such as what they ate for breakfast, how was their first day at work, or, say, a family celebration.
These memories are unique, because they are associated with a particular perception of these events each individual.
As explained by psychologist Kyoto University Saha Takagi, cats, like dogs, and remember any specific events that suggests that their episodic memory is similar to the human.
"Episodic memory is seen as part samoanaliticheskoy functions of consciousness, and our study may indicate its presence in cats, is also interesting to suggest that cats can enjoy the memories as well as people."
In a study at Kyoto University researchers tested the ability of cats to remember after 15 minutes from a bowl they just ate, and from what is not.
They found that cats can remember specific information about their bowls, that is, "where" and "what" they ate, and it indicates the presence of episodic memory.
The researchers suggest that a cat can remember experiences for a long time, and not inferior to dogs on the part of various mental tests, such as the recognition of human gestures, facial expressions and emotions.
According to Sahi Takagi, this study may have practical applications.
"The better we can understand cats, the more will develop a better relationship with the people of cats," she said.
The same group of scientists from Kyoto University previously conducted similar tests with dogs, which also showed the presence of these animals episodic memory.
Last year, Hungarian scientists have concluded that dogs are able to remember the actions of their masters, even without good reasons.

I am more of a cat person. They are cleaner than dogs. Cats and I share a crucial element of the free thinker, we are not, in the least, obedient. Cats also make a greater variety of vocal sounds. The one thing that I've found that cats cannot do, is point. If you point for a dog, they look where you are pointing. If you point for a cat, they look at your finger. Dogs are very pack oriented, they need to know their place. Cats are loners, for the most part, they know their place already, the top.

I know a lot of people that mistake the finger pointing at the moon for the moon...a Hotei quote

Cats usually want to smell the finger, but yeah. It's a bit like those who mistake
the Bodhisattva for enlightenment, itself.
The moon is such a great thing to illustrate so many things. I use it on flat Earthers.
