How the steem.global Faucet Came to be:
The idea to convert steem.global to a faucet rather than news site occured to me after realizing between coding, posting and interacting with my fellow steemsters I simpy didn't have enough time in my day to oversee preoper running of a STEEM news site. However given that steem.global:2001 is also my seed node and was going to be running anyways it was a logical choice to turn it into a faucet / seed node...

Simple really. Go ahead and sign up for a steem.global account and start collecting 0.001 STEEM per a day for FREE. You're welcome to withdraw them at any time to any STEEM account of your choosing. Whether you choose to power up the STEEM, give it away, sell it or horde it for a rainy day is entirely up to you!
The site will likely change a bit in looks in the upcoming months. While currently the site "isn't bad" it could certainly use some more work. However it sinks back down on the priorities list as I focus on the streemit and steem-roller projects and push them forward to help extend services for the STEEM network and her tokens.
How is the Site Paying for the Faucet?
Currently a small army of advertisements are in place to hopefully offset the costs associated with running a faucet. Hopefully in the future as my witness rank increases and I'm ready to become top 19 a fraction of my daily STEEM earnings will go towards fueling the steem.global faucet which will hopefully in turn spread it to those whom need it.
In order to create an initial seeding fund for the faucet 10% of the STEEM from this post payout will be sent to the @steem-global account to be sent to people all around the world.
If you'd like to donate to the faucet feel free to send to @steem-global with mention of donation in the memo! I'll have a page up shortly to list names of anyone wishing to donate towards the Daily STEEM faucet. Currently the account has a little less than 1 STEEM in it (which may last a while considering 0.001 STEEM / day payout). Will top it off as it gets low before this post is done paying out. :)
Active Witness Initiative
This is one of many projects I've got on the go for the STEEM network to support it's growth and development. I believe that putting STEEM into the hands of those that need them and spreading the word is a great undertaking, it must be taken by all of us if we're to reach the true global scale that we're capable of. Hopefully this STEEM faucet has a positive impact on adoption, awareness and happiness for all of those who use it.

This was the smallest thing I had on my to do list as far as STEEM related projects go but I think it's likely one of the projects that will attract most attention and use for input to develop it to this point.. Long while the website sat dormant.. Glad I could finally put it to use. :)

Sure is a lot going on. Managed to sign on - even though the Re-capthcha box was in a weird place. Good to see a faucet opening up on a corner near me. Transferred and powered up - all in an isntant. Will be back daily.
