Porsche: "Mission E electric car is fully ready for serial production, after it we will work on the development of an electric crossover"

Head of R & D-division Porsche Michael Steiner said that the work of designers on the electric Mission E is completely completed, while the final version almost completely repeats the same-name concept car presented in 2015. He also noted that now the road tests of the model will be carried out not with the help of "mules", but on the basis of full-size versions, as close as possible to serial Mission E.

The final product Porsche will show in 2019, and the first deliveries to customers will begin in 2020 at a price of approximately $ 130 thousand. This price tag will allow you to write a novelty between the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid ($ 110 thousand) and Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid ($ 180 thousand .), as was promised earlier. The manufacturer will offer several modifications with different power, power reserve and price tag, as does the same Tesla.

Interestingly, Mission E will remain the designation of the concept, while the serial version will receive a different name. If we believe the chief of Porsche Oliver Bloom, the company has not yet figured out exactly how they will name their first fully electric sports car. In its characteristics, this four-door sports car falls into the niche between the 911 and Panamera lines, but will not join one of them, but will be sold within its own brand line.

In Porsche they refuse to switch their cult line 911 to electricity, because because of the dense arrangement of the car in the lower part of the body there is simply no place for installing batteries, and the other layout will make the center of gravity of the model higher, which does not suit the developers. Nevertheless, the next generation of the 911s, which will be released in 2018, can get a version with a plug-in hybrid engine, but this has not been decided yet.

Recall that the prototype Porsche Mission E weighs two tons has a four-wheel drive with two electric motors with a total capacity of 600 hp. The first 100 km / h electric car is gaining for 3.5 seconds, and 200 km / h - for 12 seconds, and without recharging Mission E can travel up to 500 kilometers. Support for charging systems with a voltage of 800 V will allow charging the batteries of an electric vehicle by 80% in just 15 minutes. After the start of serial production, the company plans to sell about 20,000 copies a year.

Finally, in Porsche noted that after Mission E will be engaged in an electric crossover, since this is a very trendy direction of the electric vehicle industry.
