Ask HN: Fully online CS degrees?

in news •  7 years ago

Very possible, I stuck out 4 years at a school I hated in person, to the smaller university my mom works at. I'm no longer majoring in just CS, I'm allowed to explore more, I technically can sign up for on ground classes, but the trade for all of this is that my BS will be in Information Systems and Cyber Forensics/Security. But I can then get an online masters further in security or do data analytics or a 6 others. Old school's online classes required meetings every 2 weeks, bs filler work. etc. So I'm less depressed and I truly believe security is going to outpace data and maybe even ai in terms of jobs. Writing the code for any type of system is a skill, and very impressive. Writing a secure version is often overlooked and not considered until much later than it should because secure programming is different from straight programming. But It''s part of the fun of computers.
