A lot of you here at steemit are programmers or work near one. And most of you have heard of the gender pay gap - the difference between the wages of man and woman.
But I guess no one has heard about the tab pay gap - mostly because I just coined that term.
What I am speaking about is the difference in payment between programmers using tabulator and space. Please ask yourself now:
Do you use tabs or spaces for code indentation?
If you use spaces then you are on the better side of live! If you use tabs... well, it sucks.
Because the Stack Overflow 2017 Developer Survey did a data mining with more then 12'000 professional programmers that gave answers including their salary, which resulted in the following, astounding find:
Programmers that use spaces get better paid then those who use tabs.
That holds true in any subset that could be found, including the country.
The model estimated that using spaces instead of tabs leads to a 8.6% higher salary (confidence interval (6%, 10.4%), p-value < 10^-10)
If you want to crunch the data yourself, the source, where the picture is from, has it linked. Maybe you can find the reason and never forget: correlation is not causation!
HAHA nice. This is a theme on HBO Show Silicon Valley

This is a great post. I would love to see an article on how many left handed artists there are versus right handed, so all of us left-brain, right handed people can claim discrimination in the art world.

Tabs should be the ones to be valued more! That's unfair and illogical. This makes it sound legit ;)
