Western Union launches new platform to compete with Bitcoin

in news •  8 years ago

The new proposal designed by the giant remittance processing guarantees payments for international commercial transactions in minutes.

Strong competition within the digital coins sector has prompted Western Union to introduce to the market a new platform free commission payments WU called EDGE. The product has been designed to enable transactions between two people in a matter of minutes, which the company seeks to break through remittance companies operating within this business sector using Bitcoin.

Until recently, people interested in sending money to relatives and acquaintances in other parts of the world had very few alternatives for which it was only necessary to have bank accounts or use remittance services like Western Union and MoneyGram. In the case of these companies, customers saw the need to cancel fees for transactions and the conversion of currencies, which increased costs considerably when the amounts transferred were more substantial. However all this changed when Bitcoin and other digital currencies entered the market.

a step in the right direction , but they will re-introduce fees at some point no doubt ...

when I first got my ATM card , there were no fees, and that was a thing the bank was announcing loud and proud "no fees, since we don't have a person taking care of your transactions" .... sure enough, a few years later, the entire banking system migrated to cards and electronic banking, and fees returned.

Cryptocurrencies 4 life :)

Nice concept, was only a matter of time before the joined the digital currancy world....

Can't believe they are finally upgrading their system. Took them so long.
