TRUMP WIRETAPS: The Media Can't Have It Both WayssteemCreated with Sketch.

I just don't get it.

On the one hand, I'm being told repeatedly that it is just simply impossible -- ridiculous, even -- that anyone would even consider the idea that Trump was under surveillance during his campaign. Yet, simultaneously, new members of his inner circle are being revealed to have been wiretapped and monitored every couple days.

Much of the media seems to trying to have its cake and eat it at the same time with this -- they want me to see Trump as a criminal with criminal associates who were being monitored for legitimate reasons, while also stating unequivocally that there's just no way Trump himself was being similarly monitored.

Worse, they're in such a rush to make everybody seem like a criminal (thus, "it appears to have been legal") that they've forgotten to note that we now live in a time where secret courts and bad precedent slap a veneer of legality on just about every single thing the government does, no matter how absurd in reality.

In any case, I don't think you get to have it both ways.

Clearly, seeing all of the people around Trump under surveillance, you really have to say to yourself, "Yeah, ok, it's probable that Trump himself was as well", and then make of that what you will (ranging perhaps from thinking this is political corruption to Trump is clearly a criminal legitimately monitored by law enforcement).

You can't just keep denying that it's even remotely possible for Trump to have been spied on at this point... Regardless of what Comey or anyone else in the spy community is saying. I mean, this is a matter of record. The Intel Community can say whatever they want. (I'm a member of it, btw)
