Call of PSYOPS: Video Games as Psychological Warfare in the 21st Century

I wonder if we could predict future events by studying this year computer games/movies and correlating it with recent news and leaks. Is there any game that you know about that portraits a cyberattack on banks or big charity as a bad actor? (there was a movie about bank that was selling arms and killing people - but is cant remember the title) It's landing on my to-do list...

PS As I think about it- the main theme pushed right now is:

concentration camps(or walled off totalitarian societies) in tv series :

  • Cleverman
  • Colony
  • Dominion
  • Fear the Walking Dead
  • Between

Good "agents" saving the world without regard for collateral damage or law

  • Strike Back
  • The last ship
  • Scorpion
  • almost all Marvel series
  • Limitless
  • Hunters
  • Blindspot

World ruled by corporations:

  • Continuum
  • Dark Matter
  • The Expanse
  • Killjoys

If you got some additions to this list or see other patterns -please comment. I think we should consider last two years of "culture" to avoid going to far back. If there is enough material I will write a proper article

Thanks for the comment, man. Deep State involvement and predictive programming in games is a casual interest of mine, but if you're looking for concrete evidence of TV/film being weaponized propaganda, check out my colleague Tom Secker over at SpyCulture:

http://spyculture.com

He's got some wonderful "high octane speculation" as well as hard documentation substantiating some of the patterns you discuss herein... for example, the Defense Department has actually been actively sponsoring zombie/contagion/post-apocalpyse movies for at least 30 years now! Even films where "concentration camps" are heavily featured, like the crappy remake of Red Dawn.

As well as some odd ones, like Ernest Saves Christmas...

EDIT: It's worth noting that one of the recent Call of Duty games (Black Ops II I think it was) DOES depict a "cyberattack" by (get this) Chinese terrorists working with South American drug cartels - a hilarious and public example of the intelligence technique known as "transferrence" (blaming your enemy for things that you are actually doing).

We have FOIA'd documents from the Marine Corps demonstrating that they are the exclusive government funders of the Call of Duty franchise. They've got their hand in nearly every game Activision makes. I'd be happy to send you the documents if you're interested!
