**Although human slaves were abolished in last century by different laws throughout the world but still there are over 40 million modern day slaves those were living around the world according to UN Affiliated International Labour Office and Walk Free Foundation. Most of them are victims of human trafficking, debt bondage or forced labour.

According latest report from Truth of Slavery in Mauritania by The Guardian there were above 10000 slaves living in the Mauritania.

I'm from Nigeria. And many of those African migrants is from my country. Most are in search of greener pastures aboard, due to the government's failure to provide basic social amenities. The sad fact is that many of these migrants are fully aware of the dangers but still back on this journey. It shows how desperate many of them are for a better life.
The only way this problem can be curbed is by African leaders doing the needful: provide a humane environment where hard working people can thrive, it is not that difficult, but they choose to loot and enrich themselves.
It's sad that in this time and age we still have to deal with slavery. Yes, international bodies should help and look into this matter, but how long will Africa be spoonfed? We need to be the change we desire.
