Aaron Misael Ortiz de la O, a student at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), designed a printer that reproduces bone structures with biodegradable materials.
From bone scans, they create a 3D model of a biological scaffold with certain geometry and porosity, depending on the area of the bone that is intended to be recovered.
In this scaffold, a cell culture is applied to reproduce the bone cells, creating the bone tissue that will eventually form the bone to be printed.
All this created based on biodegradable materials, which can be subsequently reabsorbed by the body and at a more than reasonable cost.
One more step towards Singularity ...
