<The cost of electricity in the country can double.
In Iceland, due to
mining of bitcoins and other crypto-currencies, electricity costs can double.
Such expectations were expressed by Johann Snorri Sigurbergsson, business development manager at the energy company Hitaveita Sudurnesja, reports The Telegraph.
According to him, due to the production of virtual currency, energy consumption in the country will grow to about 100 MW this year.
"This is more electricity than is going to feed the houses of the 340,000 people of the island state," the report said.
Recall that more than four thousand government websites in the US and Britain "infected" with the code for mining crypto-currency.
