On average, members of 33.9 percent household were victims of physical violence last year, reveals the study by rights organisation Manusher Jonno Foundation.

The study titled ‘A State of the Marginalised in Bangladesh 2016: Experience of Marginalisation, Exclusion and Rights Violation’ was made public at a programme at Jatiya Press Club in Dhaka.

Eminent rights activist Sultana Kamal and Shaheen Anam, executive director of Manusher Jonno Foundation, were present at the programme.

Over 32.3 percent of the marginalised community is mentally tortured by majority people in their locality from mainstream society, the study said.

“The study reminds us that we might turn into a shameful nation,” Sultana Kamal said at the programme.

When people lose their humanity, it is no more a society of human beings, she added.
