Face to face Pentagon and Amazon

The relationship between US President Donald Trump and Jeff Bezos, CEO of US tech firm Amazon, is not very good. Trump doesn't like Bezos. So many people think that a lot of government work is going to be lost to Amazon. The Pentagon's $ 5 billion deal with the US Department of Defense recently went unnoticed by Amazon. Bezos signed the deal with Microsoft's rival Microsoft on cloud computing. Amazon sued the Pentagon in US federal court.

Amazon authorities claim they are far ahead of Microsoft in cloud computing services. So the deal was supposed to be with them. But that work has been given to Microsoft by showing favoritism.

The Pentagon signed a $ 5 billion deal with Microsoft last October. Under the agreement, Microsoft will work with cloud-computing with the Pentagon for the next ten years.

An Amazon spokeswoman said the evaluation process, which was awarded to Microsoft for $ 1 billion, was flawed, incomplete and biased. Amazon Web Services has both the experience and capabilities to deliver touch technology to the US Defense Force. The agreement is also important for the country.

Amazon had previously said it would challenge the validity of the deal.

Last week, US Defense Secretary Mark Asper dismissed allegations of bias.

The Pentagon, the US Department of Defense, has decided to 'cloud' by improving their computer systems. For this, the company will spend $ 1 billion or about Tk 1 billion. The 5-year project, titled 'Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure (JD)', is designed to make the US Defense Department more technologically viable.

Regarding the deal, the Pentagon said Microsoft was selected after a thorough trial.

About the Pentagon's deal with Microsoft, Amazon said they were surprised at the decision. Amazon says a thorough analysis of the deal might have led to different conclusions.

The US Department of Defense wants to create a cloud-based single computer network by changing their old computer network system. It is thought that with the Jedi project, the US military will be able to easily access different information from the battlefield.

Under the agreement, Microsoft will provide the Pentagon with a number of other services, including artificial intelligence analysis and ultra-confidential military computer network services.

Amazon was ahead of everyone from the start to get the JD project. Opponents of this company became vocal in criticizing the possibility that Amazon could be involved in the JD project. However, the major critic of Amazon Jedi's involvement was US President Donald Trump.

Trump questions the transparency of the deal. He told reporters last July that he had received numerous allegations related to the Amazon and the Pentagon deal.

The US president said other companies have told him that the agreement between the two companies is not clear enough. His administration will be closely monitoring the process for which the deal is going to take place.

Several times in the past, President Trump has criticized Jeff Bezos, founder of the Amazon and owner of the influential Daily Washington Post.

Google has previously shown interest in this project. However, in October last year, Google dropped out of the cloud computing agreement with US technology firm Alphabet. Google decided that the project did not go along with its ethical principles.

"A Jedi deal with our Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy cannot be ascertained," said a Google statement. And some part of that agreement is beyond our scope. '

The main barrier to using Google's Artificial Intelligence software is that it will go against international human rights and surveillance policies if used in a weapon or any harmful service, the news agency reported.

Google authorities were keen to reach that deal to boost their cloud business. This gave Google the opportunity to go further in marketing. But thousands of Google activists opposed it. Employees of the company emphasized that Google's technology does not work on the battlefield or on people's lives. Google sets rules on the use of artificial intelligence in the face of opposition from employees.
